Lancaster Medical Center & Medical Office Building, Penn State Health
As part of a $1B+ expansion initiative, Penn State Health (PSH) purchased a 28-acre greenfield site in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to construct a new community hospital.
The Paoli Hospital 4 East Bed Unit was a multi-phased renovation of existing space within Paoli Hospital. The project includes an 18-bed patient unit and new center core with support spaces. Formerly a bed unit, 4 East had been decanted and turned into administrative space many years ago. To convert it back into a patient care unit, this renovation required multiple enabling projects to create new space for the current occupants. As part of the enabling work, three different locations within the hospital campus were earmarked for renovation to provide new office space. After completion of these enabling projects, 4 East could be decanted and the renovations to the bed unit would begin.
Immediately after construction began, Paoli Hospital asked PurePM to look for ways to accelerate the project. The team developed a plan to utilize other temporary and available spaces on campus as swing space. This allowed 4 East to be vacated early and accelerated the overall project schedule by three months. Through PurePM’s management, the project was completed in the fall of 2022, early and on budget.
