Chapel Renovation Project, Saint Joseph Villa

Flourtown, PA

As the owner’s representative and project manager, PurePM lead the renovation of Saint Joseph Villa’s 8,150 SF Chapel. The renovation included finish upgrades and enhancements to the Predella, Altar, Mezzanine, and Balcony areas as well as light finish upgrades to the existing Sacristy. Two new ramps on either side of the altar help with accessibility within the Chapel. In addition, finish upgrades to the existing Chapel walls, new travertine, marble flooring, updating the existing recess lighting fixtures within the ceiling to new LEDs, as well as the addition of a 14’ diameter corona lighting halo were added. The creation of a halo light fixture works in tandem with updated LED lighting to increase lighting levels and improve visibility.

The renovation of the Mezzanine and Balcony added more seating and space for AV control. Low voltage work and audio-visual enhancements help create an improved experience for the congregation attending mass in person and virtual services. In addition to custom congregational seating, custom liturgical furnishings made from wood were created for a personal and unique addition to the Chapel. These ornate pieces include a solid wood Presiders’ Chair, Altar, Ambo, and Easter Candle stand.

PurePM assisted the Sisters of Saint Joseph Villa in engaging their community for input on selecting the furnishings. PurePM also managed the RFP team selection process by selecting a Construction Manager to join the team and carry out the construction phase of the project. Through construction, PurePM assisted with all communications between the Owner, Architect, and Contractor and managed all FF&E procurement and installation on behalf of the Villa.
