UHealth at SoLé Mia is a state-of-the-art 371,000 SF ambulatory medical center located in North Miami, designed to deliver leading-edge care across oncology, cardiology, neurology, urology, orthopedics, and more. The $523 million project includes an ambulatory surgery center, advanced imaging, infusion services, and a full compounding pharmacy and diagnostic laboratory.
In August 2024, PurePM was brought in by the University of Miami Health to take over project management responsibilities, including activation for SoLé Mia. At that time, the facility was roughly 70% complete, and activation planning had yet to formally begin. The project had been previously managed by a combination of internal staff and a third-party firm.
PurePM stepped in seamlessly, conducting a full project assessment and quickly identified gaps in the project delivery timeline. Within weeks, we transitioned from analysis to action.
The team developed a comprehensive Owner Total Project Schedule that seamlessly integrated construction turnover, activation planning, and working windows across all disciplines. Activation Leads were assigned across ten key focus areas, including Medical Equipment, IT/AV, Security, Furniture, Supply Chain, and Regulatory Compliance, ensuring clear ownership and coordination. In partnership with the furniture and equipment planners, the team led the creation and deployment of detailed room-by-room readiness checklists to support operational preparedness. A structured meeting cadence was established (initially bi-weekly and later weekly) to drive accountability, maintain momentum, and promote transparent reporting. Surrounding First Patient Day, a robust Command Center process was implemented to provide real-time coordination and issue resolution across departments, ensuring a smooth and successful transition to occupancy.
We successfully delivered the facility’s first patient on September 30, 2025, bringing Levels 1, 4, and 5 online. The remainder of the building is phased over the following four weeks, culminating in a full building opening on October 28, 2025.
Our activation model created a unified structure across dozens of stakeholders, turned a delayed plan into a coordinated execution effort, and has since set a new standard for activation delivery at the University of Miami Health System.
